"Something very special": New movie with Max in the leading role
Max Riemelt is currently filming the movie " Something very special" ("Etwas ganz besonderes") in Munich, Thuringia and Hamburg. The film (written by Eva Trobisch) tells the story of Lea (Frida Hornemann). As a candidate in a casting show, Lea is asked by the TV team: "What makes you special?" She doesn't know and begins to slip into different roles in search of what makes her special, developing an unexpected fascination for her aunt Kati (Eva Löbau). Kati's return home. This reunion raises the hopes of grandparents Friedrich (Peter René Lüdicke) and Christel (Rahel Ohm) that they can join forces to give their pension, which has few visitors, a new lease of life. But everyone seems preoccupied with themselves. Lea has moved in with her father Matze (Max Riemelt) after a violent argument with her mother Rieke (Gina Henkel). Natja Bruckhorst's movie "2:1" stars Max Riemelt

In one of the main roles Max Riemelt is in front of the camera for the movie "2:1". The film, produced by Row Pictures and Zischlermann Filmproduktion, is expected to be released by X-Verleih in 2024. "2:1" is about three longtime friends who find the GDR's millions in the chaos of its collapse. And we get to watch how an old community of solidarity reinvents itself in a decaying society. Until someone turns the wheel too far and puts money into circulation that didn't exist before. Further leading roles in "2:1" are played by Sandra Hüller, Ronald Zehrfeld, Ursula Werner and Peter Kurth alongside Max Riemelt.
Max Riemelt plays lead role in movie "Es geht um Luis"

Directed by Lucia Chiarla, Max Riemelt will be in front of the camera in the next few weeks for the feature film "Es geht um Luis". The film is produced by East End Film and ostlicht film produktion, is scheduled for theatrical release at the end of 2024 and is about the two thirty-somethings Constanze (Natalia Rudziewicz) and Jens (Max Riemelt). Their already tense lives start to unravel when their son Luis (10) has problems at school. Balancing between fulfilling social norms and trying to protect their son, Constanze and Jens face a conflict of values that threatens to break them apart. Above all, Constanze and Jens lose sight of the fact that Luis is being bullied and is in real danger.
Sleeping Dog to start on Netflix on June 22

On June 22, Sleeping Dogs (German title: Schlafende Hunde) launches worldwide on Netflix. Sleeping Dogs is a series directed by Stephan Lacant (episodes: 1-3) and Francis Meletzky (episodes: 4-6) exclusively for Netflix. It stars Max Riemelt as Mike Atlas and Luise von Finckh as Jule Andergast, as well as Carlo Ljubek as Luka Zaric, Peri Baumeister as Lenni Atlas, Antonio Wannek as Roland Sokowski and Melodie Wakivuamina as Britney Adebayo. The storyline of Sleeping Dogs (book: Christoph Darnstaedt) is based on the original series "The Exchange Principle". The series is about a fallen top cop and an up-and-coming young prosecutor who, for different motives, open a closed murder file - and with it Pandora's box. Both get caught in the bloody trail of a conspiracy that seems to lead deeper and deeper into the police and justice system. Ernesto's Island to be released in cinemas on May 18

Ronald Vietz drama "Ernesto's Island" with Max Riemelt in one of the leading roles will be released in German cinemas on May 18, 2023. Following its premiere on April 13, 2023 as part of the Achtung Berlin Film Festival, this is the first time the film will be shown to a wider audience. "Ernesto's Island" tells the story of Matthias - played by Max Riemelt. Matthias works very successfully in a Berlin advertising agency and enjoys his luxurious single life. When suddenly his mother, a dropout and convinced communist, dies he has to face his past. Tasked to scatter her ashes in Cuba, she sends Matthias on a journey into his past. Matthias finds family he wants nothing to do with. He encounters love he cannot relate to and loses a friend he cannot rescue. When he manages to accept his roots and admits to himself that he is not the unscrupulous, self-satisfied cynic, only then does he understand what he has been missing.
Ernesto's Island on April 13 and 14 at achtung berlin film festival

On April 13 at 9:45 p.m. and April 14 at 8:00 p.m., the road movie Ernesto'S Island, directed by Ronald Vietz, will be screened as part of the achtung berlin festival at the Babylon Kino at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin. Ronald Vietz's film stars Max Riemelt in the lead role alongside Oliver Bröcker, Sara Schubert, Emio Gejic, Wolfram Teufel and Anna Amalie Blomeyer. Ernesto's Island (script: Ira Wedel, Ronald Vietz) tells the story of Matthias (Max Riemelt), a young East Berliner who, after the death of his mother, sets off for Cuba to scatter his mother's ashes on the island of Cayo Ernesto Thälmann. "Two to One" (German: "Zwei zu eins", director and screenplay: Natja Brunckhorst) will be released in cinemas in Germany on July 25, 2024. This was announced by X-Verleih. Max Riemelt plays one of the leading roles alongside Sandra Hüller and Ronald Zehrfeld. The plot of the comedy: Halberstadt in the summer of 1990. Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt) and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld) have known and loved each other since childhood. Rather by chance, they find the GDR's millions in an old mine shaft, which have been stored there to rot away. The three of them smuggle out rucksacks full of money. Together with their friends and neighbors, they develop an ingenious system to exchange the now worthless money for goods and cheat the onrushing Westerners and their capitalism. Because if you're a bit clever now, this summer could not only be a great adventure, but also the final turning point in their lives.
